San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex: Northern Management Services (Boise, ID)
At the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex, $1.2 million has been awarded under the Recovery Act to complete phase 2 of a refuge headquarters remodeling project. The $1.2 million award is providing jobs for 34 tradesmen and laborers employed by Northern Management Services of Boise, Idaho.
“The stimulus money put me to work. I would be out of a job without it,” said Kelly Hanson a carpenter for Northern Management Services who is currently preparing the interior of the refuge building for dry wall. “I come from Idaho where the little towns are getting hurt first. A lot of the people I used to work for have lost everything. Here in California they have never seen it so bad. The stimulus money has cut through the red tape and put us to work.”
“The great thing about stimulus money is it’s not something that is promised two years down the line, it’s happening right now.” said John Simpson, a foreman on the San Francisco Bay refuge project. “The money that’s putting me to work is also getting spent locally and getting back into the system.”
