Project Title: Rehabilitate Water Pumps and Motors (FFS #R1QA)

State: Oregon

Project Description: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded an $82,542 contract under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to Tetra Tech Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company based in Portland, Oregon. This project is expected to employ approximately five workers. The funds will be used to evaluate the current condition of existing pump galleries and develop a replacement schedule to include Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) pumps, according to Warm Springs Supervisor Fishery Biologist Roger Sorensen.

“These VFDs allow for more efficient operation due to the ability to modulate pump speed based on need,” Sorensen said. “This improvement has become more critical as our energy supplier just notified us that rates are increasing by 5 percent.”
