Project Title: Replace Swan Lake Water Control Structures (FFS #R3BB)
State: Missouri
Project Description: The Great River National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri will receive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to repair damages to water control structures and improve migratory waterfowl habitat. The funding will provide needed repairs and replacement of water control structure that has been damaged by flood events and floating debris. In addition to being ineffective, the structure also poses a safety threat to staff who must use this structure to control water levels. This and other water control structures allow the refuge to manage water flows in order to mimic natural water levels and provide feeding, nesting and resting areas for migrating waterfowl and other wildlife.
