BLM New Mexico: Replace Farmington Field Office

BLM Farmington Field Office

Photo voltaic panels will be installed on the new building to provide up to 30% of annual electric demand.

Need

The current Farmington BLM Field Office provides inadequate space for the 150 people that work in the office.

Recovery Act Funding

This project’s capital improvement and deferred maintenance funding will be used to contruct a new energy efficient office building that will house two separate DOI government offices; the Farmington BLM Office and the Farmington Indian Minerals Office. Work will be accomplished through contract(s).

Benefits

The new building will solve the shortage of space and several safety issues present in the existing office. The new facility will be a Leadership in Environmental Engineering Design (LEED) certified building that will substantially decrease fossil fuel energy use and save the government operational and maintenance funds. About 7,520 square feet of solar panels will offset 30% of the annual office and warehouse electric demand.
